NewTek TriCasters – The Magic behind the scenes…

A lot of people are wondering how mega parties are created with multi-video streams, some of them live from several roaming cameras in the party. Well, its quite simply really, this magic is done with a tool called a Tricaster which is explained below.

So, the next time you are out having the time of your life at some mega celebrity party and your girlfriend or boyfriend asks you if you have any idea how those multi-screen arrays of video are being updated live with footage from the camera currently pointing in your face – you can quickly tell him or her its probably being done with a tricaster.

For those of you who have experience doing NLE or non-linear editing, you know that doing special effects in adobe aftereffects can take a massive amount of time, compositing and even more time in rendering. For you, this real time rendering magic is probably even more intriguing because you know what goes on behind the scenes. Well, again, the magic is being done by a tricaster which is able to take in multiple live camera inputs and put out special video effects, stream mixing and output in real time with the incoming streams.

Yes, its almost like magic.

TriCaster on Twitter? Can inanimate objects have twitters? Yes! Welcome to the future…

twitter

Unfortunately the twitter account is not run as though a TriCaster unit were tweeting (as amusing as that would be), but instead is full of helpful and relevant updates about the NewTek TriCaster and all the accessories that come with it. Even if you don’t own a unit but would like to watch some tutorials or demo footage, you can hop onto one of the many webinars or self-guided tutorials they provide on the feed.

The twitter account also gives you heads up as to where the TriCaster team will be next and where you can reach them personally if you need more information about, well, anything and everything TriCaster-related. For example, in recent news, the TriCaster team displayed a group of their new products at the Broadcast and Cable 2009 Trade Show in Brazil to a great reception. They also did a demo at a recent College Sports Video Summit, revealing yet another way the multiple-input video unit can be incredibly useful in indoor and outdoor sports applications. While most major studios have a Semi Truck full of video equipment to produce one show, you can now do it all with just one little box, perfect for Colleges and High Schools.

The twitter feed also lets  you know when to download necessary patches and software upgrades that will make your TriCaster run better and faster (and more impotantly, make your video look better).

Hey, it’s certainly more cerebral and informative than reading Paris Hilton’s twitter. She’s at a disadvantage though, seeing as she can’t read…
